PGT-A : Preimplantation Genetic Test for Aneuploidy
To check the abnormalities in the chromosomes of the blastocyst embryo by Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technique.
After culture the embryo until the blastocyst stage, the embryologist will biopsy embryo cell for testing. The embryo that has already been biopsy will be frozen.
Benefit of chromosome screening
- Increase chance of pregnancy
- Reduce the risk of pregnancy with embryo abnormal chromosome
- Reduce the risk of miscarriages
Cryopreservation
- Embryo freezing
In those who are treated by IVF or ICSI, if can be stimulated many eggs its will have a chance to get many fertilize eggs. The embryo that is not used for transfer into the uterus in the first cycle must be preserved by freezing. When the next embryo transfer is required, the frozen embryo can be used. The advantages of embryo cryopreservation comprise of;
- Excess good quality embryos can be frozen for the next transfer without controlled ovarian hyperstimulation.
- In case there is high risk of having severe OHSS, all embryos should be frozen and transferred them later.
- Encouraging frozen – thaw embryo transfer has a higher pregnancy success rate than fresh transfer.
- Egg freezing
For a woman, it’s an optional if you’re not ready for pregnancy now but want to make sure you can get pregnant later. Because if you want to have baby at an older age, there may be some problems with poor ovarian reserve, so you can preserve your eggs now for future use.
